Nothing against my previous Doctor but I grew tired of driving all the way to the East Valley and then sitting for an hour (1/2 in the waiting room and 1/2 in the exam room stealing shit) past my appointment time to be seem for 10 minutes.
So today I took a bold step and visited a local NP. I am happy to report that the drive is way shorter and the wait time is a good 5 minutes less. What's with these people and scheduling? When I say, "One o'clock" I don't mean "Somewhere around two-ish".
Blood pressure: 130/80. Weight: 178. EKG good. Lungs clear.
But let's take a moment to talk about forceful, condescending black women who have access to needles.
Bad attitude? ✔
Chip on her shoulder? ✔
Didn't want to deal with my bullshit? ✔
A lot like my wife? ✔
During the Q and A part of the exam I quipped to her, "Now, be nice" and after a few more verbal volleys in my direction I said, "You know, my wife is an evil black women too. So far, I'm not impressed." After that, all was good in the world. I'm going back next week for a smoking cessation consultation. I think it's required by my insurance before I can get medication.
Good times.
